Our Story
Opportunity Bank Uganda Limited (OBUL) is a Commercial Bank licensed and regulated by the Central Bank of Uganda. OBUL offers tailormade products and services for Individuals, micro, small, medium and large sized enterprises.
OBUL was founded in 1995 as a Micro Credit program from Food for the Hungry International and is now owned by and Opportunity International group (59.5%) which focuses on transformation of communities and MyBucks SA (39.6%) a fintech company listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. Other shareholders include Faulu Uganda (0.8%) and Food for the Hungry (0.1%).
OBUL has a network of 24 branches and 24 ATM Points distributed in the Central, Eastern, Western and Northern regions of the country. Our other alternative channels include OBUL bank agents distributed across the country, Opportunity mobile banking system (Opportunity Kusiimu via USSD), Internet Banking and a Mobile App. Our Mobile App is available on google play store and App store with a unique feature of Instant Inter-bank transfer that enables our customers transfer funds from their Opportunity Bank account to all local banks in Uganda instantly 24/7. OBUL is also a member of the Interswitch Network and our customers have access to over 600 Interswitch powered ATMS across the country.
